IU physicists featured at PSI 2013 Workshop on Physics of Fundamental Symmetries and Interactions at low energies and the precision frontier

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. --
CEEM and Indiana University Physics Department were well represented at PSI 2013 - the 3rd Workshop on the Physics of Fundamental Symmetries and Interactions at low energies and the precision frontier held on Sept. 9-12, 2013 at the Paul Scherrer Institute in Switzerland attended by 175 scientists from 12 nations. IU researchers delivered the largest number of invited talks at this international conference from a single institution (4). IU speakers were:
- Robert Cooper: Standard Model Tests Using Coherent Neutrino Scattering
- Adam Holley: Neutron Spin Rotation
- Ralf Lehnert: Low Energy Precision Tests of Spacetime Symmetries
- Jorge Diaz: Tests of Lorentz Symmetry in Neutron Decay
Also presented at the conference were recent scientific results from experiments with major IU contributions: the UCNtau experiment (Chen-Yu Liu, co-spokesperson) on the measurement of the neutron lifetime using magnetic trapping of ultracold neutrons at Los Alamos National Lab, and the NPDGamma experiment (Mike Snow, co-spokesperson) on the neutron-proton weak interaction measurement at Oak Ridge National Lab. Robert, Adam, Chen-Yu, and Mike perform research at the IU Center for the Exploration of Energy and Matter (CEEM) and Ralf and Jorge work mainly in the area of CPT/Lorentz violation in the IU Center for Spacetime Symmetries (IUCSS).
